Braid/Mono for Sea Water Fishing

For seawater fishing, braid and mono (monofilament) lines offer different advantages:

Braid is strong, thin, and has minimal stretch, making it highly sensitive to bites and perfect for deep-sea fishing or situations where you need to feel subtle movements, such as jigging or bottom fishing. Its strength-to-diameter ratio allows for longer casts and fighting larger saltwater species.

Monofilament (Mono) is thicker, more elastic, and offers better shock absorption, which is ideal for handling powerful saltwater fish strikes. It’s also more abrasion-resistant against rocks and structures and is easier to manage for beginners. Mono generally floats, making it useful for surface fishing in saltwater environments.
